Structured Cabling

Commercial Structured Cabling in Edmonton

The cabling behind a commercial system needs to fit the property and the equipment it supports. Uniservices installs structured copper cabling for businesses, industrial facilities and managed properties in Edmonton and across Alberta. We take on standalone cabling projects and include supporting infrastructure in access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and intercom installations.

Cabling planned for the work it needs to support

A useful cabling scope starts with the endpoints, the available pathways and the intended use. A new outlet, a camera connection and a building-wide addition can require different routes, access arrangements and handoff details. We review the project requirements before proposing the work.

Depending on the agreed scope, a commercial project may include:

  • copper cable runs to defined locations;
  • outlets, jacks and patch-panel connections;
  • cable routing through available pathways;
  • labelling of installed connections;
  • connections that support a security-system installation;
  • agreed checks and handoff information for the new work.

The quotation identifies the included locations, materials, checks and documentation. Concealed conditions and the state of existing cabling may require further investigation or a change in scope.

Cabling services

Standalone commercial copper cabling

Uniservices accepts separately scoped commercial cabling work, including new cable runs, outlets and patch-panel connections. The proposed locations, cable and components, accessible pathways and handoff requirements are defined for each property before installation is agreed.

Cabling for security systems

Access control, cameras, intrusion detection and intercom systems depend on appropriate connections between the installed equipment. We can include the supporting cable infrastructure in an agreed security-system project, with the system scope and cabling scope coordinated in the quotation.

Additions to an existing property

When a site needs more connections or a change to installed infrastructure, we review the accessible pathways and available information before defining the new work. Existing cables or components are assessed before their reuse is included in the proposal; their condition and suitability are not assumed.

Where the cabling fits

Business and industrial spaces

New connections or changes to commercial and industrial premises can be quoted as a standalone project. Routes, access and coordination with the site's operations are considered when defining the work.

Condominiums and managed buildings

We work on building-level infrastructure for condominium corporations, apartment-building owners and property managers. Work within individual homes and consumer residential cabling is outside this service.

Define the result before installation

The quotation should state what will be installed, where it will be installed and what will be handed over. Required checks and documentation vary by project. If a client needs certified test results or a particular standard, those requirements must be identified and confirmed as part of the proposed scope before work begins.

This approach also matters when work uses existing pathways or cabling. The availability and suitability of those assets are assessed for the agreed project; we do not guarantee the condition or performance of unverified infrastructure.

Our cabling approach

  1. Describe the locations and intended use

    Tell us about the property, the endpoints and the systems or network connections the cabling needs to support. Do not send passwords, access credentials or detailed security information through the contact form.

  2. Review the available pathways

    We consider the available site information, access conditions and installation routes relevant to the request. A site visit or further investigation can be included where needed.

  3. Agree on the scope

    The quotation defines the included runs, terminations, materials, testing, documentation, assumptions and exclusions before work proceeds.

  4. Install and check the agreed work

    We complete the installation and perform the checks specified for that project. Additional work arising from concealed conditions or a changed requirement is addressed through an agreed scope change.

  5. Hand over the project

    We identify the completed connections and provide the handoff information or results included in the agreement. Later additions or changes are scoped separately.

Frequently asked questions

Do you take on cabling projects without a security-system installation?

Yes. We accept standalone commercial copper-cabling projects, including cable runs, outlets and patch-panel connections. The locations and deliverables are defined in the quotation.

Will I receive test results or a certification report?

The required checks and documentation are agreed for each project. If certified results or a specified testing method are required, tell us before the quotation is prepared so we can confirm whether and how they can be provided. They are not included by default.

Can you reuse existing cabling or pathways?

Possibly, after reviewing the available information and site conditions. We do not assume that existing infrastructure is accessible, suitable or in working condition before it is assessed.

Can cabling be included with cameras or access control?

Yes. Supporting cabling can be included in an agreed security-system installation. The quotation identifies the system work and cabling work included.

Do you install cabling in individual homes?

No. This service is for commercial, industrial and building-level projects, including condominium and apartment properties under building management.

Discuss Your Cabling Project

Tell us about the property, the locations to be connected and what the cabling needs to support. Include any specified testing or documentation requirements so we can assess the scope.

Do not include passwords, access credentials or other sensitive security information in the form.
