Maintenance & Service

Commercial Security System Maintenance & Service in Edmonton

When an installed security system develops a fault or no longer meets the property’s needs, the next step starts with understanding the system and the issue. Uniservices provides troubleshooting, repair and scheduled maintenance for commercial access control, video surveillance, intrusion-detection and intercom systems in Edmonton and across Alberta. We also assess systems installed by other contractors.

Service begins with the system you have

The same symptom can have different causes. Before recommending a repair or replacement, Uniservices reviews the reported issue, the installed equipment and the conditions that may affect its operation.

Depending on the system and the agreed scope, the assessment may consider:

  • the fault or change observed by the people using the system;
  • available system information and recent changes;
  • equipment condition and applicable device settings;
  • power, cabling and connectivity relevant to the issue;
  • required administrative access and available documentation;
  • compatibility and parts or software availability.

The assessment identifies a practical next step. Some faults require further investigation, and an existing system cannot always be repaired or supported with its current equipment.

Systems we service

Access control

Uniservices troubleshoots and services commercial access-control systems, including the equipment and functions included in the agreed work. The assessment may address controlled doors, readers, credentials, controllers, power or related cabling, according to the installed system and the issue reported.

For a new system or a separately scoped upgrade, see Access Control.

Video surveillance

Uniservices troubleshoots and services commercial video-surveillance systems. The work may address cameras, recording equipment, viewing access, power or supporting connections, depending on the installed system and approved scope.

For camera coverage and new installations, see Video Surveillance.

Intrusion detection

Uniservices troubleshoots and services commercial intrusion-detection systems. An assessment may address detection devices, keypads, control equipment, power and related system functions, subject to available access and compatibility.

24/7 alarm monitoring through a third-party station is described separately on the Intrusion Detection page. Monitoring does not establish a 24/7 repair or technician-dispatch commitment.

Intercom systems

Uniservices troubleshoots and services commercial and building-level intercom systems. The scope may include entrance stations, approved user endpoints, audio or video functions and compatible door-release interfaces where those functions are present in the installed system.

For new installations and system additions, see Intercom Systems.

Supporting infrastructure

Power, cabling and connectivity can affect the performance of these systems. Uniservices can assess the supporting infrastructure relevant to an agreed security-system service request. New or extensive cabling work is scoped separately.

Troubleshooting, repair and scheduled maintenance

Troubleshooting and repair

Uniservices reviews the reported problem, investigates the relevant system functions and explains the work recommended. A repair may require parts, access to programming, compatible equipment or further investigation. The proposed work and its limits are agreed before it proceeds.

Scheduled maintenance

Scheduled maintenance provides an opportunity to review the equipment and functions included in the agreed scope. The checks and visit schedule depend on the property, the installed system and the client’s operating requirements. Maintenance does not guarantee that faults or incidents will not occur.

Upgrades identified during service

If a repair is impractical or an older system no longer suits the property, Uniservices can explain repair, replacement or phased-upgrade options. A larger project is quoted separately. For broader replacement planning, see System Modernization.

Maintenance agreements built around the property

Uniservices offers recurring maintenance agreements for commercial and building-level security systems. Each agreement defines which systems and locations are included, the work to be performed, the visit schedule and any agreed exclusions. There is no single package that fits every property.

The scope may consider:

  • the types and number of installed systems;
  • the areas or equipment included in the review;
  • the property’s operating requirements and access arrangements;
  • the checks and documentation agreed for each visit;
  • parts, repairs or upgrades that require separate approval;
  • the timing and frequency of planned visits.

An agreement sets its own scope and scheduling. This page does not promise emergency service, after-hours availability or a guaranteed response time.

Existing systems and contractor takeovers

Uniservices may service a system installed by another company after an initial assessment. Existing documentation, administrative access, equipment condition and the availability of compatible parts or software affect what can be supported.

After the assessment, Uniservices can explain:

  • which equipment can reasonably remain in service;
  • what fault or limitation has been identified so far;
  • what repair or further investigation is recommended;
  • whether replacement or a phased upgrade should be considered;
  • what access or information is needed before work can proceed.

An assessment does not guarantee that every existing product can be supported, repaired or integrated. The recommended next step depends on the system found on site.

Commercial and building-level service

Uniservices serves businesses, industrial facilities, condominium corporations, apartment-building owners and property managers. Service may involve a single system or several separately scoped systems at the same property.

Individual homes are outside our service scope. Work in a condominium or apartment building is considered at the building or property-management level, with the included equipment and common areas defined in the agreed work.

Our service approach

  1. Tell us what is happening

    Describe the property, system type, observed issue and how it affects operations. Do not send passwords, alarm codes or other sensitive security information through the contact form.

  2. Review the available information

    Uniservices reviews the request and any relevant system information to identify the appropriate next step.

  3. Assess the installed system

    The condition, configuration, access and supporting infrastructure are assessed as needed for the agreed service scope.

  4. Define and complete the work

    The proposed repair, further investigation or maintenance work is defined and agreed before it proceeds. Included functions are checked against that scope.

  5. Plan ongoing support

    If appropriate, Uniservices can provide on-request service or discuss an individually scoped recurring maintenance agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Do you service systems installed by another company?

Yes, subject to an initial assessment. Service depends on the equipment’s condition, compatibility, required administrative access and parts or software availability.

Which security systems do you service?

We service commercial access control, video surveillance, intrusion-detection and intercom systems. Supporting power, cabling and connectivity may be assessed when relevant to the agreed work.

Do you offer maintenance agreements?

Yes. The included systems, work, visit frequency and exclusions are defined for each property. Repairs, parts and upgrades are included only if the specific agreement says so.

Can you repair every existing system?

No. Repair depends on the condition of the equipment, access to the system and the availability of compatible parts or software. We assess the installed system before recommending the next step.

Do you provide emergency or 24/7 repair service?

Service requests are reviewed individually, and the scope and timing of work are agreed with the client. We do not advertise 24/7 technician service or guarantee a repair response time. The separate 24/7 alarm-monitoring service does not change these repair-service terms.

Do you service individual homes?

No. Uniservices focuses on commercial and building-level systems for businesses, industrial properties, condominium corporations, apartment-building owners and property managers.

What information should I provide when requesting service?

Tell us the property location, system type, observed issue and any available make or model information. Do not include passwords, alarm codes, access credentials or other sensitive security information in the form.

Request Maintenance or Service

Tell us about the property, the system involved, the issue you are seeing and whether you are interested in ongoing maintenance. Uniservices will review the information and identify the appropriate next step.

Do not include alarm codes, passwords, access credentials or other sensitive security information.
