Why should I have a security alarm systems?

Having a security system may decreases the chances of a burglary.Even if the alarm system does not keep a burglar from breaking in, it may cause the burglar to stay a shorter amount of time.

What should a security alarm system include?

Most systems rely on a combination of contacts placed at doors and windows and motion sensors. It is best that all exterior points of entry have contacts that sense when they are open. Glass break detectors are also available and highly recommended.

The basic elements of a standard security system include:

  • Control panel: The main component and the heart of your system. This is the brain behind the whole thing. It connects to each component in your system. It contains the computer system that controls all aspects of you security system.
  • Keypad: This is a human interface to your security system. It will allow you to enter various codes to accomplish tasks and access features of the security system. Additionally it will have things on it like fire panic button, police panic button, and emergency medical assistance button. The idea is to give you instant response to emergencies that may occur in your home or business.
  • Inside motion detector: These sense changes in a room caused by human presence. Special motion detectors are available for people who have pets.
  • Door and window sensor: This sounds the alarm when the door or window is opened (and the system is on).
  • Siren: A very important part of your security system is notifying authorities when there a trouble. But a secondary function of your security system should be to scare away the bad guys before they hurt anyone or damage or steal your property.

Additional items that can be added to the basic system are:

  • Glass break sensors
  • Smoke detectors
  • Panic buttons
  • Carbon monoxide detectors
  • Flood/water sensors
  • Hi/low temperature sensor

Hardwired or wireless security system?

UNISERVICES offers hardwired, wireless or combination of security equipment to meet your needs, plus you OWN your system, not leasing:

Hardwired system: If you are building a new home, a hardwired system is still industry standard. While putting a hardwired system in an existing home is difficult, putting one in a home in the construction phase is much simpler. It is still a time consuming process, but much less so. And overtime, you may appreciate that your system is permanent in your home, especially if this newly built home is where you plan to stay for a while.

Wireless system: Is easier to install and usually requires no renovation. If you need to get a security system for finished home or a temporary residence, or if you are renting and cannot make any permanent changes to the place, then a wireless system has a definite advantages. Just keep in mind that keypad, ac source, phone connection still has to be hardwired.
